In some specific situations manufacturing programming mode can be toggled on which a white on red text indicating this showing during boot. One way to disable it is to cycle through brief power on and off events by intermittently pushing the power button. Another way is to use HP BIOS Configuratiuon Utility.

Note: tutorial includes little to no explanation, so be sure whether you want to proceed forward. Also keep in mind that this will work only if BIOS is unlocked. This tutorial has been inspired by this image.

If you haven't yet, download HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) here. If you've set up everything using default settings, then do not change anything in these commands. IF you have changed or relocated the files for this program to another folder, then please adjust commands accordingly.

Open Command Prompt with Administrator privileges. Then, type:

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\BIOS Configuration Utility"

BiosConfigurationUtility64.exe/getconfig:config.txt

This will generate an editable text file with the computer's BIOS settings. Open the file using Notepad:

notepad config.txt

Then, navigate to the line name "Manufacturing Programming Mode" it should look like this:

Manufacturing Programming Mode

 *Unlock

 Lock

Erase the asterisk (*) next to "Unlock" and put an asterisk next to "Lock", so it would look like this:

 Unlock

 *Lock

Save the file (Ctrl + S), close the program and come back to the Command Prompt window. Then, type in this command:

BiosConfigurationUtility64.exe/setconfig:config.txt

If at this point the BIOS password has been set, it will show an error. Otherwise, one of the lines should say "No errors occured", you can proceed further with restarting the system:

shutdown /r /t 0

Computer will reboot not once, but twice; after the second time the white-on-red text should have disappeared and the mode should be turned off.
